WHAT SHALL WE CALL THE NEW CHRYSLER?

The Chief sends along this link to the latest bad news for GM & Chrysler, along with this comment:

I don't understand this merger. Where are the merger savings. You can't build Malibus and Jeeps in the same plant?

I responded:

I read one analyst who said that the only reason he could think of was to make a company too big to fail. But history, especially car company history (he used British Leyland as his prime example) shows that any government involvement dooms them to failure, regardless of size. You can't force people to buy cars.

They need to fail and take down the union contracts, pensions and benefits with them. They've lived on borrowed time too long.

The Chief again:
That is my thinking, sell off the profitable divisions oversees, BK the mother ship and then have the sold off oversees profitable divisions buy back the assets of the BK division and then re-cap the company as GM of America a non union company.

Put that right in the name. our better yet GM
of South eastern American a Non-Union company.  That might be a little long
for the hood ornament.......

So what should we call a reconsitituted Chrysler? Well, if the Japanese buy them, how about this idea from 1981 (click below where it says 'more')
