KAILUA FOR ME, LUMP OF COAL FOR THEE

The Chief has a question for Obama. Since Obama wasn't available to answer, the Chief supplies the answer for him.,

And he isn't happy about it:

As I was going through the newspaper, on page 7 there was an article that Obama and his family [took] a little trip to Hawaii

He decided to rent a 9 million dollar mansion in Kailua and chartered a Boeing 767 from United Airlines.  For those of you who don’t fly a lot a 767 is used for trans oceanic flights primarily. In fact United does not even use them to fly cross country.  It seemed like an awfully big airplane for a family of 4.

I did some checking on Airlines.com on what the fuel burn on a 767 is,  ranging from as little as 180 passanger up to the 400ER model, 300 capacity

Here is the response from a Delta pilot

The 767-300's at Delta burn 1000lbs/hr. for every 30.9 they weigh at optimum altitude and .801M. For an example, a plane weighing 370,800lbs. would be burning 12,000lbs/hr., or 5442kg/hr., in ISA.

Jet Fuel weighs about 6.75 pounds per gallon.  So a 10 hour flight from Chicago would be 12000 pounds per hour x roughly 10 hours or 120,000 pounds of fuel. That divided by 6.75 = 17,777 gallons of Jet fuel.

To put that in perspective the average American burns about 600 gallons of Gasoline in his car.  Or roughly a 30 year supply.  If we calculate Jet fuel at
Roughly $3.00 per gallon,  (He may get a better deal because of his connections) He is paying $53,331 dollars Air Fare one way. to stay in his 9 million dollar mansion.

As a side note, 2 days ago he appointed 2 of the most radical global warming activists as his National Science advisors.  Obama is a big supporter of cap and trade and has made numerous statements that the Auto industry is not doing enough to solve the global warming problem.

I have no problem with you if you believe that the global warming issue is man made.

I have no problem with you, if you want to fly your family to Hawaii on a Boeing 767 and use more fuel than most of us will use in a life time.

But I have a big problem with you, if you tell me, I should stop driving my SUV around because we need to use less to protect the environment and become energy independent, and then get on your Boeing 767.   The arrogance and the hypocrisy of this is just amazing.   Is this not the guy that said we need to “spread the wealth around”?  How many hungry kids would 100 grand feed in Africa or Chicago?  He is the great savior, as long as it is not his money?

Am I pissed yes, am I surprised no!  Can some of my democrat friends explain how this is reconciled?
